Hope Valley Round

21st January 1990

Leader: Martin P.

The walk was originally advertised as approximately 17 miles in order to draw in some of the waverers, but even with the occasional short cuts by some members it was nearer 22 miles! Fourteen members and five guests met at Hope railway station for a prompt start at 9.30 and then climbed Win Hill to warm up. This was followed by walking what many considerered to be the finest ridge in the Peak: Lose Hill, Mam Tor, and Lords Seat, cutting down to Sparrowpit for a pub lunch. The return journey took the party via Peak Forest, Bradwell Moor, Smalldale and Brough back to Hope Valley station in the dark. Mostly good weather and fine views led to few complaints from the party over the length of the walk. 20 people took tea at the club hut.
